This is what I want to do for the rest of my life and I hope to get to, and this is definitely something that I really love. Is acting something you want to do forever?ĭakota: Yeah, I definitely hope so. Like Mexico, I probably would never have gone there, if I didn't do that movie, so, and you get to meet wonderful people that, and memories you'll have for the rest of your life. Like I'm going to Australia, and I'd probably never do that. What is your favorite part of acting? Is it the creative part, meeting people, what is it?ĭakota: I really like all the parts of it, but one of my favourites, there's a lot of things that I like about it, you get to be somebody else, unlike yourself, and you get to meet new people and go to different locations. What was your first meeting with De Niro like?ĭakota: It was great he was real nice, it was with the director and him together, and we had a great time.ĭakota: He was very kind and generous to me and my birthday was on the set and he actually gave me a doll that looked my character, with the brown hair and blue eyes.

So she was having a good time so I've never really been with her at the same place, so she's been doing good, though, she really likes it a lot.

Can you give her any advice?ĭakota: When she was filming The Door in the Floor, I was actually in Mexico doing Man on Fire, so my grandmother went with her and my Mum went with me.

The haircut, how did that discussion come about?ĭakota: Yeah, John Polson and I kind of talked about and I'd never had dark hair in real life or in a movie before so it was a change, and also it kind of made me look a little bit scarier for some reason. Is that still kind, is she still your role model? I know you've said in the past that you admire actors like Jodie Foster and when I was watching it, I was thinking of Jodie Foster when she was a little girl and she was doing, like some of these very mature roles. You seem to be so comfortable with the big actors, like Sean Penn and now Robert De Niro. He's so committed to the scripts, so focussed, so I loved it. Was it scary with Robert De Niro, at first?ĭakota: He made me feel so comfortable and he was so kind to me and I learned so much from him, to watch and act. We often had a good time when we weren't doing stuff like that. Was it harder for you to watch this movie or was it harder for you to be in it, and to react to everything that was going on around you?ĭakota: You know when I was filming it, it was so intense and I had to maintain all 8/10.Do you scare easily Dakota? Do you like scary movies?ĭakota: I love this one. Sure, the ending is a little cliché, but the rest of the movie was good enough on it's own. I don't understand everyone's problem with this movie, it was actually quite good. "Hide and Seek" has a good, solid story behind it, which is why it is such a good horror film, and the acting is top notch on top of it all. I liked this movie because it was more psychological rather than chop and slash gore that most horror films use to scare people. The atmosphere was heavy, I loved the whole feeling of the secluded upstate New York small-town, and the large house David and Emily move into.

The whole film was really suspenseful, and it tricks you a lot. Famke Janssen ("Don't Say A Word" and "House on Haunted Hill") also does great, and Elisabeth Shue ("The Karate Kid") is also very good.

Dakota is quite talented for her age, and DeNiro gives another great performance like he always does. Robert DeNiro and Dakota Fanning are both brilliant, their performances were extremely real and convincing. Then strange things begin to happen - Emily discovers a new imaginary friend, Charlie. Then after David and Emily move into their new house, David meets Elizabeth (Elisabeth Shue), who becomes a friend to David and Emily. A family friend/psychologist/co-worker of David, Katherine (Famke Janssen) disagrees with David's decision to move, and thinks that Emily should stay where she is. It is about a psychologist, David Callaway (Robert DeNiro) whose wife commits suicide, and he decides to move to upstate New York with his daughter, Emily (Dakota Fanning), whose personality has severely changed after her mother's death. "Hide and Seek" is one of the best horror films I've seen in awhile.
